Some Things I Forgot

March 30, 2015

I knew I’d forgotten some of the things I’d wanted to share.  We’ll see if I remember more…

Thing 1:  Before administering the spinal block, they administer a numbing agent.  I was told that the numbing agent would hurt.  Let’s just say that it has nothing on a B6 injection.  Fun?  No.  Painful?  Not as much as that B6 serum is!

Thing 2:  Nurse Amy was going through my discharge orders and got to the part on sexual activity.  She glanced over at my parents and whispered, “I’m not going to read this part aloud with your parents here, so you can just read it yourself.”  We all got a kick out of it.  My mom’s comment was that I’m 36 years old; my parents are totally fine with me having sex or not.

Thing 3:  Everyone I spoke with who was on the surgical team told me that they were honored to be a part of bringing my daughter into the world.

An Unrelated Thing 4:  I just watched the season 4 premiere of Call the Midwife.  This show almost always makes me cry.  It just usually takes more than three minutes for it to happen…
