  2. We were early for dance class, so we walked around Bronson Park and looked at the topiaries.
  3. Took Anna to dance class.
  4. Went back to my parents’ house.
  5. Loaded the laundry, etc. in my car.
  6. Went to the museum for the interactive math exhibit. It was a lot of fun. Anna probably would have enjoyed it, too, but I probably enjoyed it even more without a four-year-old in tow.
  7. Came home.
  8. Watched The Force Awakens because I could.
  9. My parents and Anna picked me up for the annual family Memorial Day gathering.

Unemployment Day 82

  2. Went to Fourth Coast.
  3. Submitted the final discussion post for my leadership course.
  4. Came home.
  5. Changed into warmer clothes.
  6. Waited for the phone to ring.
  7. Did the dishes.
  8. My mom came over and together we tidied Anna’s room.
  9. Repeated checked my email, the Alliance Career Center, and my phone (even though it was sitting right next to me and I would have heard it ring).
  10. Gathered up laundry, etc.
  11. Picked Anna up from school.
  12. Went to my parents’ house.
  13. Did laundry.
  14. Had dinner.
  15. Checked to see if I’d gotten voicemail while driving to pick Anna up from school. I hadn’t.
  16. Watched part of The Force Awakens. I wasn’t planning on jumping into Episodes 7-9 quite yet, but on Monday I had on a Star WarsBand-Aid with Finn on it, and Anna wanted to know who he was, and I told her with the caveat that she hadn’t seen the movie where he’s introduced yet, and she asked if we could watch it. We (spoiler alert) did get as far as Han Solo and Chewie showing up, but not much farther than that. So not that far. Anna took most of what we saw as an opportunity to dance to the John Williams score. I’d say I might have to watch it for my own enjoyment tomorrow, but things are so busy this weekend that I’m not sure I’ll have enough time…
  17. Bedtime stories.
  18. Checked my email and the Alliance Career Center again. Still no word on the job. It’s going to be a looooong holiday weekend……….

  16. Came home.
  17. Looked up clips from Wicked on YouTube.
  18. Anna is now singing “Loathing” at the top of her lungs. She tells me it’s her favorite song from the show. Trying to decide if that’s a good thing or a bad thing…
  19. Called my mom to go over plans for tomorrow.
  20. Remembered to schedule a mail hold for my upcoming vacation (such as it is — there will still be schoolwork and hopefully there will be on-boarding for the position I interviewed for on Monday).
  21. Now Anna is belting “Dancing through Life”. Yes, she is listening to the cast album; this isn’t completely from memory.
  22. I think I’ll watch a little Chopped and then take my book to bed.

Unemployment Day 79

  1. Took Anna to school.
  2. Came home.
  3. Worked a little bit on my practicum presentation.
  4. Wrote a grocery list.
  5. Had a phone interview. Different company and position than the one I interviewed for yesterday. Felt like it went pretty well. The position from yesterday is still number one, but the work and corporate culture for this one make it rank a close second.
  6. Walked to my parents’ house.
  7. My mom and I went downtown for some work at smashing the patriarchy. The group of young men from K College who came of their own accord to join the protest give me hope for the future.
  8. We then went grocery shopping.
  9. Came home. Put groceries away.
  10. Went to pick up Anna.
  11. Came home.
  12. Walked to my parents’ house.
  13. After my mom got home from a corporal work of mercy, we went to a client appreciation event my realtor was having at the KIA Area Show.
  14. Saw a few old theatre friends, which meant I got to wish Cathy a happy belated birthday in person. Did not, in fact, see my realtor.
  15. Came home.
  16. Did a little bit of art with Anna.
  17. Called my mom because I thought of something logistics-related for this week and wanted to suggest it before I forgot. Yes, we hadn’t seen each other in about 15 minutes.
  18. Having a hard time remembering that it is still Tuesday…
  19. For those of you who don’t see me on Facebook, you missed this hilarity from last night. I did, indeed, watch the final episode of Les Miserables. (Spoiler alert for anyone who doesn’t know who all dies. Hint: Everyone. Mostly.) Anyway, I was weeping while watching Marius holding Gavroche as he dies, and suddenly I hear Anna belting “Skid Row” from Little Shop of Horrors at the top of her lungs. She came out a little bit later (as the camera was panning over Courfeyrac’s bloody and lifeless face and I was still crying) to ask me to tuck her in. In her room, she pointed out that she’d picked up a few of her toys. That was so that she’d have the space for her stuffies to put on Little Shop of Horrors and that they were the ones I had heard singing.
  20. This adaptation of Les Miserables is excellent. I almost want to watch it again. There are so many details from the book that it nails. My only question at the end was what happened to Azelma considering how closely everything else followed the original text. There’s a reason I’ve felt the need to reread it. Perhaps there are details I’ve mis-remembered. Now I need to clarify the few discrepancies I noticed…
  21. This evening? Well, it’s already almost 8. I might watch a little telly. Then I think Victor Hugo and I will head off to bed.
  22. It’s still Tuesday, right?

Unemployment Day 78

  1. Took Anna to school.
  2. Came home.
  3. Did the dishes.
  4. Proofread the paper that was due today.
  5. Mowed the lawn.
  6. Showered.
  7. Submitted the paper.
  8. Took a nap.
  9. Started the final presentation for my practicum. I figure that since it’s basically a presentation of the paper, I might as well work on them simultaneously.
  10. Had my second interview for the position that I reallyreallyreally want. It went reallyreallyreally well. I have at least a 50% chance of getting this job since they are only interviewing one other person. But the interviewer said she could see why the previous interviewer had raved about me. They’re hoping to make a decision this week.
  11. Trying not to get my hopes up.
  12. My parents brought Anna home. (My interview was at the time that I would normally go pick her up, but obviously I wanted to take the first slot the interviewer had available.)
  13. Texted my mom about fitting a protest into tomorrow’s schedule.
  14. Dinner, screen time, playing with Playmobil, coloring, and bedtime stories.
  15. Either Les Miserables or Call the Midwife is up next. Tomorrow brings the first interview for a non-CE position at a different company. Really hoping that I’ll have to withdraw myself from the numerous other applications I have out there…
